A meeting between the Bulgarian Fintech Association and representatives of Western Balkan countries took place on the 28th of January in the Association’s office in Sofia. The meeting was a part of an initiative, organised by the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (SMEPA), aiming to introduce the Bulgarian startup ecosystem to the heads of organisations, responsible for the development of innovations and start-ups in the Western Balkans region.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Republic of Serbia, Montenegro, the Republic of North Macedonia, and the Republic of Albania.
Gergana Stoitchkova – Director of BFA, presented the main parameters of the Bulgarian Fintech ecosystem, and spoke about the significance of the activities of the Association in the context of the development of the sector in Bulgaria.
Antonina Martinova – CEO of Paynetics, who are among the founding members of BFA, told the guests about some of the business ventures of the company, and how it helped develop solutions, such as the digital wallet Phyre, and Phos, which is an application that enables a smartphone to function as a POS terminal.
The meeting was very productive, as it managed to gather representatives of the regional start-up ecosystems, which is a necessary step towards building a sustainable regional partnership in the field of innovation.
