In short about the program 

We are happy to announce that for а third year in a row BFA will partner with the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) at Sofia University “St.Kliment Ohridski” in conducting the most desired FEBA master’s program  – “Finance, Investments, and Fintech”. In the upcoming 2022/2023 academic year, the master’s program will provide students with a wide range of knowledge in the fields of digital technologies, financial innovation and investment, blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

The Fintech and E-banking course 

In one of the key courses of the program, “Fintech and e-banking”, students will learn more about the theoretical part behind the fintech industry, led by Dr. Deyan Radev, assistant professor at FEBA at Sofia University, as well as the practical field through guest BFA speakers, by presenting real case studies from their work. The guest lecturers who will participate in the upcoming academic year work in companies such as Eleven, Nexo, Iuvo, Reloyalty, Phyre, Payneticss, Klear, Paysera, MasterCard, MyPos, Cash credit, 7 Security, Crediport, and iRoboInvest.

Blockchain and crypto course

For a second year in a row the Blockchain and cryptocurrencies course, led by Dr. Angel Marchev,  provide students with the opportunity to choose electives in AI for Fintech, Data science for business and finance, Machine learning for business and finance, and Big data for business. In the span of the course there are special lectures with guest speakers from the industry. As a reference, last year’s guest lecturers were from Nexo, Bithope, Penkov-Markov & Partners, Rifiniti, DEA, and BAFIN, who presented the case of OneCoin.

Fintech hackathon

Another amazing opportunity for our students to get a more practical experience during the master’s program is the hackathon From Zero to Fintech organized by BFA and FEBA. The hackathon is for everyone who want to challenge themselves and think they can contribute with innovative ideas and solutions in the fintech world. It provides participants with valuable know-how from experienced mentors who will guide them in building their own fintech startup, finding the best solution to a real case study, or developing an open banking solution. At the end, a jury is selecting the best ideas, which will have the possibility to be sponsored and further developed. 

Who can apply?

The MSc “Finance, Investments and Fintech” is designed both for people with experience in the field of finance and technology, as well as for those who have just completed their bachelor’s degree. Candidates must have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Economics or Business Administration. Applicants who do not have the necessary qualification will have to study four additional general economic disciplines within the same study period – 3-4 semesters, according to the student’s wishes.

Career prospects

Successful graduates of the MSc “Finance, Investments and Fintech” have the opportunity to follow a career path in finance, fintech, investments, or sales in banking and non-banking institutions as managers, experts, analysts, or directors in the private or public sector.
