On 8 and 9 November BFA, in partnership with BBBA and Tuk-Tam, presented the FinTech and Tech ecosystems in Bulgaria in front of the Bulgarian diaspora and UK VC funds, at the Bulgarian embassy in London, UK. The event in London was the first of a series of events in Europe in an effort to shed light on thriving ecosystems in Bulgaria.

  • “Meet the Тech and FinTech Ecosystems in Bulgaria” gathered Bulgarian students and professionals to meet some of the most successful and fast-developing fintech and tech companies in the country.
  • The companies who had the opportunity to pitch their products and services to both potential employees and investors were, eLando,, SoCyber, and Ocado Technology. 
  •  “The UK Market: Open to Bulgarian FinTech and Tech Companies” main goal was to introduce the Bulgarian progressive fintech sector and its players to potential UK investors. Guest speakers at the event were representatives from London & Partners, the Department of International Trade, NewFound Global, and Cobden Partners.

DAY 1 – “Meet the Тech and FinTech Ecosystems in Bulgaria”, 

London, 8 November

The focus throughout the first day was on the Bulgarian diaspora interested in and looking for career development in the Bulgarian tech and FinTech industries. The Bulgarian FinTechs –, Ocado Technology, ePay, eLando, and SoCyber presented their technology and products before students and professionals.

The pitching session was followed by presentations from InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA) and Financial Supervision Commission (FSC). IBA discussed what are the benefits of opening an office in Bulgaria, while the FSC representative Neda Muzho, Ph.D., talked about the Innovation Hub run by FSC. 

The first day finished with a panel discussion between FSC, BFA, Sofia University, and Epay on the role of government, regulators, the private sector, and academia in the development of the FinTech ecosystem in Bulgaria.

Special guests at the event were H.E. Mr. Marin Raykov, Krasimir Kiryakov, Head of the Economic and Commercial Department, and Tsvetelina Penkova, a member of the European Parliament.

DAY 2 – The UK Market: Open To Bulgarian FinTech and Tech Companies 

London, 9 November 

The second day of the forum started with a presentation by the Financial Conduct Authority and their representative Ishah Ijaz who discussed in detail the Innovation Pathways program and Regulatory sandbox in the UK. 

Later on,, eLando,, SoCyber, and Ocado Technology had the opportunity to present their business model in front of private investors, market entry experts, and representatives from London & Partners, the Department of International Trade, NewFound Global, and Cobden Partners, in order to get a better understanding of the UK business climate and necessary actions for stepping into the market. 

The second day was wrapped up by a panel discussion on the possibilities and challenges of expanding a business in the UK market. Panelists in the discussion were Cristina Dragu from the Department of International Trade (DIT), Fiona McCullagh from Newfound, Evo Stefanov, CEO of Methodia, and Gordon Kerr from Cobden Partners.


The 2-day FinTech and Tech event in London enlightened Bulgarians on the thriving FinTech and Tech scenes in Bulgaria met young professionals with potential employers and gave a chance FinTech companies to create invaluable connections with peers from the UK.
